Vanilla Buttercream Frosting
¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
3 ½ cups powdered sugar
Pinch of salt
2 ½ tablespoons whole milk, half-and-half, or cream
Scrapings of 1 vanilla bean (Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Bean)
In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, beat the butter until smooth. Add in the powdered sugar and the salt, whisking on low speed until combined. Add the milk, half-and-half, or cream and vanilla bean scrapings, beating on high speed until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Add more milk or powdered sugar as needed to achieve your desired spreading consistency.
